Wendy Schembri – Clinical Family Therapist
These Terms and Conditions apply to use of this website and to services provided by Wendy Schembri – Clinical Family Therapist.
Making an Appointment
Appointments can be made by telephone or through the online booking system.
An appointment is confirmed once it has been accepted and booked. Submitting an online enquiry or other information through the website does not, by itself, establish a therapeutic relationship.
Fees and Payment
Fees are based on the current fee schedule published on this website or otherwise advised when booking.
Payment is due at the time of the appointment unless another arrangement has been agreed.
Different fees may apply depending on the appointment length, time of appointment, concession arrangements or NDIS funding.
For couples and family therapy, the person who makes and organises the appointment is responsible for the session fee unless another payment arrangement has been agreed in advance.
Where an individual appointment is held as part of ongoing couples or family therapy, the appointment remains part of the couples or family therapy process and the usual couples or family therapy fee arrangements apply, unless otherwise agreed in advance.
Cancellation and Missed Appointments
At least 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or change an appointment.
A $90 cancellation fee applies where an appointment is missed or cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice. This fee may be waived in exceptional circumstances at my discretion.
Telehealth
Telehealth appointments are available where appropriate.
Clients are responsible for having a suitable device, reliable internet connection and a private environment for their appointment.
Telehealth may not be appropriate in all circumstances. If a different arrangement is clinically or practically necessary, this can be discussed.
Therapy Services
Therapy is provided based on the information available, the circumstances of the matter and the goals agreed during therapy.
Therapy is not a substitute for emergency
services, medical treatment, legal advice or other specialist services where these are required.
Where therapy is not considered appropriate for a person’s needs or circumstances, referral to another service or professional may be recommended.
Couples and Family Therapy
Couples and family therapy involves working with relationships and family systems as well as individual experiences.
Where more than one person participates in therapy, confidentiality and information-sharing arrangements are different from individual therapy.
These arrangements are explained as part of the therapeutic process and are also outlined in the Privacy Policy.
Respectful and Safe Conduct
A safe and respectful environment is important for clients, family members, other people attending the practice and myself.
Threatening, violent, abusive, intimidating or seriously disruptive behaviour will not be accepted.
Where behaviour creates a safety concern, I may pause or end an appointment, require a different arrangement for future appointments, or recommend alternative supports.
This does not prevent people from discussing anger, conflict or difficult experiences in therapy. Therapy can provide a safe space to explore these issues, provided everyone can participate safely and respectfully.
Reports and Professional Communication
Reports, professional correspondence, telephone discussions, case consultation and liaison with other professionals may incur fees in accordance with the practice fee arrangements.
Where information is shared with another person or professional, appropriate consent will generally be obtained unless disclosure is permitted or required by law.
NDIS Services
NDIS services are provided in accordance with the participant’s plan, applicable NDIS requirements and the agreed service arrangements.
NDIS sessions are 60 minutes and are charged at the applicable NDIS price limit for the relevant support item.
